Health, safety and environment (HS&E) practices are critical to the success of our business. That’s why we have integrated HS&E management with our daily operational and human resources management. The Calfrac Management System brings together health, safety, environment, plus aspects of quality, training and operational processes, outlining policies and procedures in all these areas. Continuous improvement is integral to the system’s design and is the source of its sustainability.
We began the Calfrac Management System in 2001 and its implementation and improvement continue today. Its goals are to ensure that the health and welfare of our employees and contractors is properly maintained, that the Company meets or exceeds current regulatory standards through the use of sound practices, and that Calfrac respects and stewards the environment in all that it does.
The Calfrac Management System is a genuine leap over the siloed or non-integrated approaches to health and safety that were typical during the 80s and 90s. It is designed to bring about steady betterment to the processes and results of individual programs, by bringing together:
- Implementation through policies, procedures, work instructions and manuals governing the execution of work in the field;
- Review of results through measurement of performance, work audits and inspections, assessment and analysis, creation of statistical measurements, compilation into data, analysis of the data, and reporting to management; and
- Revisions, additions and improvements, which lead into the next cycle.
The Calfrac Management System is integrated with supportive elements such as Emergency Response Plans (ERP), hazard assessment, incident and accident reporting, human resources and training. It thereby creates a self-sustaining continual improvement cycle. Nearly a decade after its beginnings, we are further improving the system’s effectiveness – please see Continual Improvement Initiatives.
